Day 17…

Today was an interesting day for me…… As I focused on not complaining – I found a heap of things that I wanted to complain about – and I felt BAD!!   EEEK….

The thing is – complaining does not serve us at all – we might feel a bit better for a second or two, but really what is the point?

When we complain we are actually focusing on what we are lacking in our lives  - and the easiest and best way to stop complaining is to be grateful for what we have – stop comparing our lives to the lives of other people – focus on positive aspects of our lives and just go with the flow!  :)

I have been writing in my gratitude journal for a long time now and today I realised the incredible difference being grateful for everything is having in my life…

I really really have nothing to complain about at all – I love my life and everyone and everything in it – but when I tried to think of things to complain about I sure found them…lesson learnt :)

One of the challengers shared a great tip with us and I think it is well worth doing as you start creating a life you love – put sticky notes with STOP written on them around your home and when you feel like you want to complain about anything – read the note – take a big deep breath – and STOP – be grateful for what you have!!!

Day 13 – Some Serious Benefits of SMILING :)

How often do you smile everyday?

How often to you frown everyday?

The more you smile the happier you will be, you may even live longer!

Smiling makes us more attractive and it’s contagious!

Smiling boosts your immune system lowers your blood pressure relieves stress and releases endorphins and seratonin….  smiling really helps you stay positive!

Smiling ‘lifts’ your face – and makes you look younger!!

I love smiling at people who look grumpy – and I feel fantastic when I see a little curl on the edge of their mouth – and if I get a smile back – WOO HOO!!  I believe I have changed the world – one person at a time :)

So, tell me did you smile for 1 minute today??

Day 12

I am so excited to read the posts and notice the changes that are happening for everyone on the challenge – you are all AWESOME!!  I love that someone else loves popping bubble wrap – just for fun….I could spend all day at it….  Another thing I have re-discovered – that I LOVE LOVE LOVE  - and that is colouring in….  :)

colouredpencilsI love to draw and paint – but it is so great to be able to sit down and choose to colour in something that someone else has drawn..my particular favourites are pictures of beautiful fairies….  I am a fairy god-mother after all, so it makes sense to me!

Do you like colouring in??  How long has it been since you did some?

Think about taking some time out to colour in – you might be surprised by how much you love it too!!

And feel free to share some other things that you did when you were a child that made you happy…and may still make you happy if you do them again!!

Day 11….What makes you happy?

After a very enjoyable long weekend it was back to work for me today and I also had lots of household chores to do…..

I was thinking about what makes me happy (while mopping the kitchen floor)  and these were the things that immediately came to my mind….and brought a smile to my face :)

Spending quality time with my darling husband,  playing with my three little fairy princesses – and any other child for that matter….. eating delicious food and drinking wine shared with good friends and family,  sinking a 20 meter curling putt, and I do LOVE popping bubble wrap  - there are so many things that I am truly grateful for that make me happy…..

Take some time to think of the things that make you happy – and get the feeling of what you feel when you are doing these things It is such a great ‘tonic’!  Thinking about all these things (and having some bubble wrap to pop) made my day so much more enjoyable….

Day 10 – Time to add some Happiness!!

Studies have proved that adding happiness – doing things that make you happy has a massive positive effect on our wellbeing!  People become more productive, feel more socially connected, find it easier to solve problems and even in some cases sleep better…. How good is that!

Mind you, being happy is not about pretending everything is perfect – it is more about looking on the bright side of things – seeing the positive instead of the negative in challenges that we may face.  By taking ownership of our challenges and looking for the positive in them, enables us to find solutions much easier and thus return to our natural state – being happy!

Take time out of your day – especially when you face a challenging task at work – and remind yourself of some of the things that make you happy – listening to a favourite song, playing with your kids, having a coffee with a good friend…. imagine yourself doing what makes your heart sing…..focus on that feeling for a few minutes before going back to what was challenging you and see what happens – you will probably come up with a solution and/or the challenge won’t be so daunting….

This may be difficult at first but know that as you focus on things that make you happier – it will become easier…..

Remember that happiness is our natural state – be there as often as you possibly can – and be grateful for every moment :)
