Destiny II….my experiences
We all gathered in the foyer of the Monasterio Hotel early on Sunday morning full of anticipation and excited about what was in store for us over the next 5 days..
Not one of us I’m sure could have imagined anything like the experience that was Destiny II….
We entered the elaborate – almost garishly decorated chapel – with gold leaf encrusted framed paintings, manyof grotesque images – the devil/God/ Jesus and Mary/Angels – all from hundreds of years ago, and sat in our seats waiting for our hosts to arrive.
Silently, three diminutive figures wearing traditional outfits – ponchos, beaded hats and sandals, entered the building and made their way to the stage – sat themselves down and – well they just sat, calmly watching and listening. These were our SHAMEN.
Three more Peruvian gentlemen, much more animated and talkative fellows, carrying different types of musical instruments filed in and took their seats to the side of the stage.
Another man, dressed in western clothing was hovering about making sure everyone was OK.
Our founders, Joe & Dave welcomed us and thanked us for being here with them and told us that we were in for something that would be whatever we allowed it to be!
The western dressed guy introduced himself – he is Richard…and so, our journey began.
I am not going to discuss everything that we learned from Richard, or tell you the experiences and feelings that many of the ceremonies brought to the surface for me…but what I will say is that I am forever changed as a result of this incredible ‘event’.
No more will I take our wonderful planet for granted.
I will take the time to appreciate the beauty and symmetry of natural things, humans, plants & animals and every other living thing that we share this planet with.
I am grateful to our Pacha Mama (mother earth) for being here and being who I am and I will greet everyday with the following word – and live my life accordingly!
URPICHAY!!
‘I give you my best, so that you can receive my best and give it to others’
At the end of the Destiny event Deb & Ray Hocking started their travelling adventures around South America.
We are not sure how long we’ll be away, but will be posting photos/videos and blogging about our experiences. Feel free to subscribe to this blog to keep up to date with where we are and what we’re up to. We’d love to hear your thoughts and suggestions.
